A critical account: what is it?
I recommend that you present first (1) a summary of the text and then (2) your review
(1) What is an abstract (summary)?

the author.
Be faithful to the text and get to the point:
Is there a thesis? or What is the purpose of the text?
What is the author’s interest? Main arguments
What is the answer to his question, his conclusion?
Clear and coherent presentation with complete sentences.

(2) What is criticism (review)?
Purpose: To discuss the value of a text, to examine its qualities and the defects, interest, and limitations
Attention: knowing the context and the author makes it easier to understand the text at criticize
Example: Renowned expert? Scholarly article? Scientific publication?
Journalistic popularization? Ideological proposal or defense? etc…
The text of the critical analysis presents a clear and coherent critique
INTERNAL and an EXTERNAL review
Criticism must be honest and correspond to recognized criteria.
INTERNAL criticism largely ignores the context in which the work has been created.
It only deals with the form that conveys the content of the text:
the coherence and logic of the work,
the ability of ideas to capture and hold attention,
the rigor of the argumentation,

the choice of the ideas presented, form and style.
EXTERNAL criticism focuses more on the work in its context.
It seeks to measure the contribution of the text to the advancement of an idea,
of a theme, a scientific discipline, or the expression of a current.
