Can You Answer This Question ?

Permission Letter Assignment Instructions

Overview

Permission must be sought and obtained from the appropriate person(s) prior to conducting any research. When you seek approval for your study, make sure you are speaking to the person who has final authority to make the decision regarding whether your proposed research is permissible. For this assignment, you will compose a letter or email that may be sent to the site gatekeeper to seek permission to conduct your proposed research.

Instructions

You will compose a letter or email written to the actual gatekeeper of the site where you plan to conduct your research. Note that, for the purposes of this assignment, you must compose this letter or email, but at this point in the program, you are not required to actually send it to the gatekeeper. You may send it, but you are not required to do so. The purpose of this assignment is to highlight the importance of seeking site approval from the appropriate gatekeeper early in the process and to prepare you to send this letter when you feel confident about your research topic and the site where you want to conduct your research. For more information, see chapter three in the textbook.

The following guidelines must be met for this assignment:

  • Include the date.
