Our final discussion. P&G is not only famous for helping pioneer the product-based organizational structure, It has also been the launching pad for many MBA’s over many decades. For this discussion we will simplify by focusing on the U. S. structure, you may make reference the European but need not go into detailed analysis. Remembering the case is set in 2001, consider:

 

 

 

1) What synergies/improvements drove the change in U.S. structure from product (1950s) to matrix (1980’s).

 

2) What benefits were realized? What flaws were encountered?

 

3) What were the key features/changes of Organization 2005?

 

4) What were the benefits derived through Organization 2005? What were the flaws?
