Child Education Paper Guidelines
Due: The first week of maternity clinical practicum (or per your clinical instructor).
Each student is expected to attend a childbirth preparation class and to complete a written paper about the experience. Childbirth preparation classes will help the student become more aware of the educational preparation of client couples, enable the student to assist during the clients labor and delivery process, and introduce methods of client teaching. The childbirth courses range from 6 to 8 weeks at 2-3 hours per week to all-in-one day refresher classes. You may choose any option. Please bring documentation from the childbirth class to your clinical practicum as evidence for your attendance.
The childbirth education paper from this experience must show integration of the following:
Theory on preparation for parenting. The type of childbirth education course.
Teaching-learning principles (These are several principles availablefeel free to choose one from textbooks or online. Be sure to cite the theory that you choose to use).
The following information along with the above principles should include in your 2-page word processed evaluation (APA format) of this experience.
Name of instructor, dates and location of the child birthing class.
Number of participants (couples and single clients).
Profile of the attendees (age, background, previous pregnancies, etc.)
What you learned from this experience. Value of this experience to you.
