1. We read about the non-violent activism associated with Martin Luther King, Jr. and the militant activism associated with Malcolm X and the Black Panthers. Bayard Rustin offered a middle ground between the two. All three approaches have failed to fully deliver civil rights to black people, since many of the problems they discuss persist.
