Describe the “levels of evidence

 opic 4 DQ 2

The levels of evidence are an important part of all evidence-based practice. Understanding the levels and why they are necessary to the research is a great way for the reader to become involved. There are different levels of evidence that begin at a level one being the most factual, and level four being either old information that is not relevant anymore, or it is not factual anymore through new evidence. It is important that the researcher read all levels because it provides a huge story line of where and how we got to the practices we perform today. A type of practice that could change the results from each level would be a new set of information that debunked the old information. Such as the urinary catheter research. It has just come out in recent years that the urinary catheter needs to be removed immediately to decrease the chances of infection. EBP relies very heavily on levels of evidence to maintain the best practices in nursing (Burns 2018).
