Discussion Topic 1 of 2:
- We live in unprecedented times. Global health crises, record unemployment, civil unrest, and quarantines are just a few of the hurdles to which today’s organizations MUST adapt.
- Using concepts you have learned up to now in the course, succinctly argue for the role you think that organizations should play in promoting “social good”, and why. Feel free to provide an example, and use that as an illustration of an exemplary case to support your perspective.
- This is absolutely a chance to share your thoughts and opinions, and to do so convincingly using the Minto Pyramid Principle. Remember, start with Situation, Complication, Question, then Answer. And again, write your response in a manner such that it is not immediately clear that you are “following a script”. (The more you practice this, the more convincing you will be in everyday situations. You’d be surprised how often advertisements, political speeches, and other efforts to “convince you” use an approach like this.)
**In terms of a “word count” guideline, roughly 300-400 words is a good target.

Discussion Topic 2 of 2:
- Firms often make missteps. In a few recent and upcoming assignments, you’ve seen this theme of “comparing intention to outcome” in strategy. This is the focus of this topic, as well.
- Using the example of an organization you have worked for (you can be general or vague, or use a pseudonym–whatever makes you comfortable), tell us of a time in which the “plan” put forth did not come close to matching the “outcome”.
