They content that although authenticity is a relational concept, it remains uncontextualized for those whose social identities set them apart from the majority within organizations and society (p. 394). Further, they offer several examples of their experiences on pages 398 to 402.
I pose the question to you: Can you fully be your authentic self in your workplace or do stereotypes and assumptions associated with your identities create conditions where your authentic self might be a liability for you?
