On a blank sheet of paper, draw out what you see Plato described in his text. Think about all major parts he describes, in and out of the cave. In addition, mark/define each part you see (prisoners, shadows, etc).
Don’t worry about your drawing ability–just think about how you can make sense of his work on the page to help you better understand his ideas/framework for the allegory. Keep in mind that allegory means “the expression by means of symbolic fictional figures and actions of truths or generalizations about human existence.”
Take a picture of your drawing and upload it here to the discussion board using the upload picture icon at the top of the text box.
Comment on TWO student drawings. You can respond in terms of noting different approaches to drawing and thinking about Plato’s text, refining any ideas (might there be a better way to understand a detail?)….just engage Plato and your ideas and larger questions about how we can continue think about and debate his work and meaning.
