Compare college-level research to research you might do in your personal life. Remember, we research all the time: what’s the best TV to buy, why do I have this rash, how do you cook pork loin, etc. Discuss the similarities and differences in these two different research styles. Compare what you know about library databases to tools you use every day (like Google) to find information. Discuss different source types (website, interview, newspaper, blog, academic journal, etc) and why being aware of their differences matters when doing research. What are some ways to evaluate sources for their worth, credibility, and relevance?
