Discussion: Communication Styles
Women’s and Men’s Communication Styles
In this module, students will examine the communication process and consider how women and men differ in their communication styles and preferences. According to Robbins and Judge (2010), the communication process includes the following:
- A message designed by the sender
- A process in which the message is sent to a receiver
- A process in which the receiver gets and decodes the message, giving it context and meaning
Based on the reading for this module, what seem to be the most significant communication style differences between women and men in leadership? How do these differences impact the performance of women and men leaders?
