By XXX- The best manager I have ever had was when I was working in the contact center at a large insurance company. A lot of leaders say they have an “open door policy” but you often feel like you can’t be completely honest, she on the other hand, knew how to execute it. She was empathic while also holding her team accountable. She helped build trust with her and with each other. A lot of her team referred to her as the “team mom” but that did not mean she was a pushover. She always advocated for her team during annual reviews and communicated with us clearly and often. If someone was not pulling their weight, it was never a surprise to them if they received a bad mark. She looked for opportunities that would help us build skills to transfer to other roles in the company and celebrated our successes. She is one of the only leaders that I still keep in contact with to share personal and professional news.
