After reviewing the feedback from your classmate on the discussion board, revise and edit your summary over “Which English You Speak Has Nothing to Do with How Smart You Are.” Submit your final draft here for grading. Make sure to meet the following guidelines:

  • Your summary must be approximately 1/2 page in Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double-spaced.
  • Your summary must follow the guidelines covered in the video on writing effective summaries.
  • Your summary must be written in academic English with minimal grammar/editing errors.
  • Your file must be submitted as a Word file and uploaded to eCampus.

Your summary will be graded on the following criteria:

  • The summary is one paragraph and approximately 1/2 a page: 10 points.
  • The author’s name, title of the article, and main argument/idea are included in the first sentence: 15 points.
  • The summary focuses on main ideas and supporting points rather than specific examples: 15 points.
  • Precise, accurate verbs (not talks about, writes, or says) are used to indicate what the writer is doing: 15 points.
  • The summary is written in a neutral tone and does not include your own opinion of the text: 10 points.
  • The concluding sentence notes the overall lesson or point of the article: 10 points.
  • The summary is written in an academic style: 10 points.
  • There are few to no grammar errors: 15 points.
