Introduction
There have been many questions raised about the effects of school-year employment on the adolescent’s academic performance and well-being. For this project you will identify a sample population, interview and analyze your data, ponder the results and talk about your conclusion. You will combine all of the knowledge you have gained in this course for the last 7 weeks. You have completed a powerpoint presentation and a video presentation in the course thus far. You will combine the two formats and submit a powerpoint presentation narrated by you.
The Assignment
Assignment:
1: You will first do some research to examine what reserachers have found about the effects teens working while in school.
2: You will interview 5 kids ages 15-17 with the following questions:
-Are they employed?
-How many hours per week do they work?
-What was their grade point average (gpa) for the previous semester (during which they worked) or current gpa?
-Would they recommend that teens work during the school year? If so, what is the maximum number of hours they would recommend?
3: After you have doen your research and interviewed 5 different teens, prepare a voice over narration presentation of your information.
4: You need at least 10 powerpoint slides with each slide having your narrate the information on the slide.(Hint: at least 5 of the slides will have each teen’s interview info on it.)
5: Be sure to include your researched information on the slides and end the presentation with your conclusion of the information you researched and gathered through interviews. Also include yout thoughts on the subject and what you have learned.
6: What advice can you would you offer teens on the subject?
Submit your powerpoint voiceover presentation that addresses the questions above. Powerpoint should have at least 10 slides and your voice over narration should be on each slide.
Grading Criteria
Maximum points are given when:
– Detailed answers to each question (10 points for each question)
– Presentation voiceover narration included (10 points)
– Powerpoint presentation submitted (5 points)
– Points are deducted for errors in spelling and grammar. Also noted is clarity of the submission and students comprehension of the content (5 points)
