The ambulance is staffed with one paramedic in charge, one paramedic, and one emergency medical technician-basic (EMT-B) (typically to drive the ambulance). Your unit is being dispatched to transfer a confirmed COVID-19 patient from an outlying medical center to an urban medical center operated by the same health care system that is better equipped and staffed to treat the patient. The paramedic and EMT-B assigned to the ambulance are aware of the nature of the patient transfer and appear apprehensive.
