Your project will be an analytical essay of 4 pages, plus a works cited page. You must have three full pages of text, and the fourth may be your works cited. No more than five pages, please.

1.First, select a primary source,. You may choose from Othello, one or both of the Chopin stories, or The Color Purple.
2. Your thesis must be clear, and each supporting paragraph, as is the custom in any paper, must completely explain the topic being discussed. You must be thorough.
3. To support your points, you must select three or four secondary sources from Literary Reference Center, a database in our library. However, ProQuest may also have articles that are helpful, so that is allowed, too. These must be critical essays only–no overviews or biographies.
5. To support your points, you must cite from the primary and secondary sources (see sample essay).
6. In addition to the sample essay, you may also use the lectures I provided in week 1 module. Owl Purdue University to review sample analytical essays/information.

Your essay must have an introduction:
This section is, basically, a brief summary of the story. Identify the author, title. End with thesis.
Body paragraphs: As in all essays, each must support the thesis. Please adhere to all rules, as learned in English 1: begin with topic sentence and explain in detail. Quotes must come from primary and secondary sources, but please avoid beginning or ending with these. They must be incorporated in the middle of body paragraphs. PLEASE ADHERE TO MLA RULES!!!
Conclusion: Begin with thesis and “summarize” essay’s main points.
A Works Cited page must be included–MLA!!
