Health Promotion Executive Summary

Assignment Overview

In this assignment, you will write an executive summary for the senior staff of the private foundation where you work. The executive summary will provide a high-level analysis of the public health issue and identify the appropriate program planning model for the outreach campaign. You also will research social media and other popular means for promotion and advocacy and justify their selection based on the target population you want to reach.

Assignment Requirements

In the executive summary make sure you address the following:

· Summarize the key points of outreach messaging to a targeted population.

· What are the key points for your audience? Include the following:

· Methods of health promotion for disease avoidance, both chronic and non-chronic.

· Methods of health prevention of chronic disease

· Identify what level of prevention the methods are aiming to achieve—primary, secondary or tertiary.

· Methods of health behavior that circumvents chronic disease.

· Identify a program planning model for education and advocacy to apply to a selected public health campaign.

· Review the various planning models listed in the textbook, under the subheading: Interpersonal-level Theories and Community-based and Theories, for comparison details.

· Recommend specific social media tools or other outreach methods for a social media outreach campaign.

· What social media tools will be used (such as websites, blogs, et cetera)?

· How will you alert/drive populations to your outreach?

· Are there any costs associated with your social media tool? If so, who will absorb these costs?

· Describe the effectiveness of specific social media tools or other outreach methods.

· How will you track the number of users/visitors to your social media outreach site?

· How will you track effectiveness of the social media outreach in regard to behavioral changes within the targeted population?

· Explain the correlation between the selected social media and the targeted population.

· Why is the tool that you chose to use the most effective for this population?

Remember this is an executive summary—not an academic paper. Executive summaries are texts that give a brief summary of a report. Executive summaries are commonly associated with business plans, marketing plans, evaluation studies, and other materials that are created to guide decision making and action. As an actionable document, the executive summary is meant to set out the key elements that a decision maker will need in order to make decisions and, as important, to justify those decisions to those to whom the decision maker is responsible.
