For this paper, you will explore a career and reflect on your findings. At this point, you all have submitted a survey that identified a potential practicum site, or you are considering a potential career site. Now it’s your turn to explore your career and personal interests through a variety of websites such as “What Can I Do With My Major” and “ONET Online” including “My Next Move”. Then you will submit a 1-page paper that includes the following headings: Career Summary, Professionalism, Reflection. A breakdown is provided below:
Paragraph 1: Career Summary –
· Explore: Consider your major (Child and Family Sciences) and the practicum site South Central Regional Medical Center Laurel) that you have selected. Visit the “What Can I Do With This Major” link on the USM Career Services website to learn more.

· Write: Provide a detailed summary of what the job entails for your selected practicum site (or the career interest of your choice), including:
o Knowledge required
o Expected daily tasks
o Skills AND abilities needed
Paragraph 2: Professionalism –
· Explore: You can look at the ONET Online link to read about work context, work styles, and work values. Also, use your text or conduct an internet search to learn more regarding attire, and etiquette.
· Write: In this paragraph, provide a summary of the professional expectations for employees in this career including:
o Attire
o Communication
o Etiquette
Paragraph 3: Reflection –
· Explore: Visit the My Next Move website and take the interest profiler. Identify your top results.

· Write: Consider your “Interests” (realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, conventional) and look back at the ONET Online Summary.
o Reflect on how the career Interest Code (Ex/SA) compares to your identified interests from the interest profiler
o Discuss your thoughts. Do you think this is the best career choice for you? Explain any motivations or challenges you anticipate.
