INDIVIDUAL Research Overview

 

You will use this template to complete the requirements for this INDIVIDUAL assignment. Instructions for each part/piece/section/element/aspect of the document are included throughout the document. All areas of the document that are [BRACKETED] require you to replace the brackets and bracketed word(s) with the prompted information. For example [YOUR NAME] indicates that you must remove the brackets and the bracketed words and replace them with your name.

 

You will complete this document independently using the resources page that has been developed for you (see the “#GEA Team Information and Resources” module and assignment module), as well as any additional reliable independent research you wish to include.

 

The work you do for this individual assignment will be used in conjunction with the independent research completed by your peers to create the comprehensive client research report requested by your project manager. Your team will collaboratively complete the Team research report together during Team Meeting 2.

Background and History

Include a minimum of 5 bullet points that highlight important aspects of the client’s background and history. Each bullet point will be 1-3 full sentences. Use complete sentences.

If your client is a city or county entity, remember that your client is the organizing body that oversees the operations, infrastructure, commerce, etc. of the area. This organizing body has a responsibility for the governance and care of the people, land, and businesses within the mapped boundaries of the city/county.

You must use your own words as discussed in the assignment overview.

Location Information

Include a minimum of 6 bullet points that highlight important aspects of the area in which the client is located. Include information about:

  • General location history (min 3 bullet points)
  • Population and demographic data (min 3 bullet points)

Each bullet point will be 2-3 full sentences. Use complete sentences

 

If your client is a city or county entity, for this section you will focus on the location itself and the population and related demographic information of the area. Some of this information might overlap with the section above.

Value or Goals

This section will include an overview of your client’s values and/or goals, as publicly stated via mission statements/”About” info on websites, as well as via any relevant news articles. See the resources page that has been complied for you on your client.

For this individual part of the assignment, you are responsible for researching and outlining a single value or goal held by your client.

Use IEEE style for the reference page. Of course as a professional engineer you’ve definitely used this style before, but just in case you need a refresher, here’s a link to the Purdue IEEE Overview page[3] (with links to the Reference List page, too).

Remember, your citations will be listed and numbered according to the order in which they appear in the report. This is easy to do if you set it up in Word. This linked website offers step-by-step instructions on how to use Microsoft Word’s reference tools to help you manage your IEEE references[4].
