Go to the Human Genome Nomentclature Committee online site and look up the XIST and XIC genes. Then go to the Mouse Genome Database and look up the same genes. Write a paragraph on the difference between the human and mouse gene symbols. Predict what the mouse gene symbol would be for the hypothetical PM gene that was described in this chapter and describe how you arrived at it.
