- The paper should be formatted in 7th edition APA format.
- You should have a properly formatted title page, reference page, page numbers and APA section headings in the document.
- An APA abstract is not required for this paper.
- Please include in-text citations where applicable throughout your paper from information from the textbook I will provide. You do not need to use in-text citations throughout your paper citing the personal communication (unless it is a direct quote from your interviewee) but I would like you to use in-text citations when you are discussing material from your textbook, or another source.
- Your paper should be at least 8 pages of substantial content. Your title page, reference page, and interview notes (questions/answers) are NOT included in the page count. You should attach a separate document with your interview notes. (There should not be any questions within the paper itself, though you will of course be using the information your interviewee provided to you to tell their life story in the paper).
- Make sure to state the age of your interviewee at the beginning of your paper. They should be at least 55 years of age (preferably 65 years or older).
- Your paper should tell your interviewee’s life story (in an essay format) and integrate applicable course concepts along the way. There are some course concepts included in the assignment handout that you must address in relation to your interviewee (such as Erikson’s stages, normative age-graded, history graded, and nonnormative influences, and social theories of aging and aspects of successful aging, etc.). There will be several other theories and concepts from class that you can apply to your interviewee’s life, so weave those into your paper where applicable.
- Remember, part of the paper will also be comparing aspects of your own life and development with that of your interviewee. If there are questions that cause significant discomfort for either you or your interviewee, you may omit them.
- Please proofread your paper, and if possible have someone else read your paper prior to submitting to catch any spelling or grammar mistakes, formatting issues, etc. I recommend submitting it to the writing center for feedback. No AI should be used in writing your paper.
