This week we’ll be introducing the HP10bII+ financial calculator, beginning with calculator basics and continuing with time value of money functions. A working knowledge of your calculator will also serve as a foundation for material to be covered in upcoming course modules, and future courses.
Assignment #1 is included in this module. TVM is not just for business applications; it’s also an important tool for answering various personal financial questions, such as “when can I retire?” or “how much do I need to save each month to reach a financial goal?” TVM questions can also be solved using Excel. This assignment is a somewhat more complicated TVM problem that focuses on a personal finance related topic, and requires a solution using Excel.
