At the end of Chapter 13 there is a section called, How is Immigration Affecting the United States Today? The section ends with a discussion of Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies, which is an ethnography that I have used in this course before and is very relevant to the political debates about immigration in the country today. After reading this section, discuss immigration in the US today and the political controversy that has been occurring in the US over the past 5 years. What are some of the inconsistencies you have heard about the history of immigration in the US, the case for migrant workers, and the situation with immigration today that were also discussed in this chapter? Discuss how politicians interpret and present the historic and current immigration situations in the US to influence policy decision making. (I will upload attachments of book)
