Unit 1: Course Project – Topic Selection

Introduction
The course project is a series of elements where you will examine the current standing of an organizations training system as it relates to a single training topic. In the final element of the training program, you will provide recommendations to the organization on how this training system can be improved.
Unit Learning Outcomes
- ULO 1.3 Evaluate relevant scholarly research and synthesize research to complete required assignments.
Directions
For this unit, you will need to select a topic. While you may select your own organization/department, keep in mind that this is graduate level work and, as such, does need to be scholarly in nature. Projects need to be unbiased and written in the third person. Consider yourself examining the training program as a 3rd party outsider without prior knowledge of the system.
Examples of project topics might be:
- Driver Safety Training for a Delivery Service.
- Training for the HR Department of a local grocery chain on an HRIS system.
- Diversity training for a police department.
- HAZMAT training for the galley crew on board a Navy ship.
In all cases, the topics should be legitimate and not fictitious. As you consider what topic to select, consider how you will be able to gather information on the topic. Sources should be scholarly in nature and might include journal articles, interviews of professionals, organization documents. Personal experience does not count as a scholarly source – remember, you should be using this project as an opportunity to broaden your perspective.
Submission Requirements
Albeit, this assignment is ungraded, it is required. Additional project elements cannot be accepted without the topic approval from the instructor, who will provide comments in discussion board.
Please post your topic, including the organization and training that you will use for the project this term. Include a minimum of two (2) scholarly sources that you plan to use for this assignment.
