Modern Public Health Policy [WLO: 1] [CLOs: 1, 4, 5]

Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, read Chapter 13 from Introduction to Health Care Management. Additionally, read Chapter 5, and review Case #10 in the course textbook, Public Health: What It Is and How It Works, to find a list created by the CDC that highlights some of the public health’s most recent achievements. Read through the list and choose one achievement you think is the ‘greatest achievement.’ Once you have chosen your achievement you will post an argument saying why you believe your chosen achievement is the greatest.

    • The Scholarly, Peer-Reviewed, and Other Credible SourcesLinks to an external site. table offers additional guidance on appropriate source types. • Where possible, use your cultural background, religion, or other personal details to further strengthen your argument.
  • Be sure to integrate your research rather than simply insert it.
    • Refer to the Integrating ResearchLinks to an external site. resource.
  • You can use these sources to support any claims, assertions, or conclusions.
  • One initial post using at least three scholarly sources (textbooks are NOT scholarly).

    • Check the APA: Formatting Your References ListLinks to an external site. resource in the Writing Center for specifications.

Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts and respond to a minimum of two of your peers. Each post should be at least 250 words. Find two classmates who have chosen different public health achievements and debate the importance of your chosen achievement versus theirs. You must use scholarly sources to support your debate, but do not attack any part of their cultural background, religion, or other personal details they may have shared. Follow the same rule for using scholarly resources and APA Style citation while responding to your peers.

HINT: The content found in the recommended and required readings contain over 55 referenced sources, most of which are scholarly. These can help you begin your search for additional scholarly sources.
