Gladwell’s talk is directed towards what makes people happy, but let’s see where we can take this idea. Think about how Gladwell’s talk can be applied to your own educational journey.

1. Draft a 100-200 word response commenting on what Gladwell’s presentation says to you about being an Integrative General Studies (BIGS) major OR, what it says to you about leadership skills (choose one or the other).  Some of the key points you might take note of and see how they could apply to your major and your learning are below:

  • “There is no perfect pickle, there are only perfect pickles.”
  • “The mind knows not what the tongue wants.”
  • “…the importance of horizontal segmentation”
  • “…mustard does not exist on a hierarchy”
  • cooking universals” and “the understanding of variabilities”
