A famous observer once voiced the following declaration based on the idea that the position of a ruler is so important, and we the people rarely know enough about the ruler to make a good choice, then certainly the ruler should not be chosen by the common vote (the electoral process): “If it is inconceivable to choose a ship captain, a pilot, a carpenter, or a musician by voting, then it should certainly be even more unthinkable to use this method to choose a leader or head of state!” Using this statement as a reference, why should we vote at all?
