In “The Library of Babel”, Borges writes of a library that contains all possible books, a library that is in fact equal to the universe. Blanchot adds: “The world and the book eternally and infinitely send back their reflected images”. Considering the library’s description in the story, how does Borges’ library resemble our world? How does it send back the “reflected images” of our world? How are we like the librarians that live and move across the hexagonal galleries? How does our world fit in the “universe” of the library? Use concrete examples from the story and from Blanchot’s essay for your answer.
