An effective introduction includes three essential parts:
General information—make your audience familiar with the issue
Your claim—this is your opinion regarding the issue
The reason the issue is important—tell your audience why they should care about this issue
Write the introduction to your argument. Include your claim and a hook. It should be a well-developed paragraph of at least 100 words. Use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
