Diagnostic Paper Assignment
This assignment is due at the end of Week 7.
Students will select one psychological disorder described from *any* of your readings from the course textbook, Psychopathology: Foundations for a Contemporary Understanding, 4th edition (Maddux & Winstead, 2016). In your discussion, you MUST address the following.
- Thoroughly describe the disorder in terms of symptom presentation and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria using the *text* as your primary source.
- Discuss treatment options for this disorder, being sure to outline both pharmacological and psychotherapy-based options using the *text* as your primary source.
- THEN – Select a one peer reviewed scholarly journal article from the APUS Library that relates to your selected disorder. Summarize the article and discuss how it relates to your selected diagnosis,
- THEN write a clear conclusion.
Please try to “talk to me”about your chosen disorder. AVOID the typical copy & paste information from the text and related resources and a lot of psychobabble with data and related nonsense.
*YES*, you MUST use citations and references in APA 7th edition to support the symptoms from the Diagnostice and Stastical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) yet remember that if you use more than 2 or 3 words OR 2 or 3 sentences from a source, you MUST use quotes or a block quote. ***The required minimum length of this paper is 6 and your goal should be close to 8 pages, in addition to a required a cover page and a reference list.
