An informational interview is an informal conversation with someone working in an area of interest to you. It is an effective career research tool and is best done after preliminary online research. It is not a job interview, and the objective is not to find OR get a job.

You are acting like you interview a police officer.

PAPER CONTENT:
    The name, title and workplace location (name of organization or company) of the person that you interviewed.
    How you found them and why you decided they would be a good person to interview VERY IMPORTANT! Explain the connection you have to them and why you felt like they were someone worth interviewing.
    Identify 4-5 things that you learned from the interviewee that you feel gave you career direction and things to work on as a developing professional in your field.
    Information you gained that might have changed your opinion on how attractive your chosen career path is (i.e., did they tell you something that makes you wonder if your chosen path is the right one?)
    Did you talk about internship or job opportunities? If so, what were their suggestions/opportunities?
    List additional contacts (if any) or referrals that they provided to you.
    Appendix: Include list of questions you prepared for the interview (at least 5 questions). These should have been based on what you wanted to learn from them.

FORMAT OF PAPER:
    11 size font used
    2 pages of reflection (NOT INCLUDING APPENDIX); double spaced (Max margins 1 inch)

What I’ll be looking for:
    How well youve thought through and articulated your thoughts.
    Correct grammar and sentence construction.
