The assignment is to write about your take on the book/novel and describe how you as an writer can learn from them. Using Point of view, themes & techniques to support these thoughts.
Part one: Say some true and interesting things about how the book (The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz) are out together and what makes the novel distinctive. In fiction, you might focus on issue like the structure of the novel, what tensions they explore, characterization, dialogue, & point of view.
Part Two: Discuss what you as a fiction writer or poet can learn from this book. What choices or moves does the writer make what show you new possibilities in your own work? what techniques might you adapt? what specific ways of ending or beginning the novel are significant ? This part will be more subjective than the first: different writers will notice different things.
