This week, you will conduct a search of the literature, finding sources that are related to a specific topic within prison visitation that you want to focus on. These sources need to be academic sources such as peer-reviewed journal articles, law review articles, books, or government reports. Newspaper articles are generally not appropriate – but if you think youve found one that is, check with me. You will need to obtain at least 5 new articles that you didnt have last week. You must have at least 10 sources for your Literature Review. If you decide that some of the articles in the Required Readings folder are not relevant for your paper, thats fine! But if you omit some of them, youll need to replace them with new reading
Dont simply write a paragraph for each study. Your Literature Review should be structured into topics, and you should cite a study whenever it’s relevant to a particular topic. This means that some paragraphs will cite many studies, and some will focus on one or two. It also means that a particular study may be cited in many different places throughout your Literature Review. It will help to create an outline before you start writing.
Your Literature Review must be about 800-1000 words.
Your Literature Review must use a minimum of 10 academic sources, all or most of which must be peer-reviewed journal articles.
Your Literature Review should not include direct quotes unless the exact wording matters (for example, if youre discussing a work of poetry or a specific law). Please strive for no direct quotes
