Overview
MAARIE is a six step framework designed to assist the reader in evaluating clinical research literature. It is especially useful in terms of evaluating clinical evidence when patients bring up questions or alternatives to traditional methods based on information they have gleaned through internet searches. It is our job to weed out research that is not true, or relevant to the question being asked. Our patients rely on us as experts in the field to guide them through the muck of internet information.
Instructions
After reading the article on MAARIE, search for a research article that addresses a clinical question related to DENTAL HYGIENE profession. Make sure that the article meets the criteria for evaluation using the MAARIE approach (i.e. based on criteria outlined in the reading assignment). Use the attached question template to review the article, answer all the questions and then submit a copy of the article and the completed MAARIE Question Template to the corresponding assignment dropbox.
