My practicum has been going well so far. One of the main successes has been the progress I’ve made on the food safety project with my partner. We’ve successfully created materials focused on food spoilage and hand washing, which have helped me work towards my learning objective of communicating public health information in a clear and helpful way. A fun challenge has been using American Sign Language (ASL) during my presentations. Since the project isn’t just for the hearing community but also includes the Deaf community, it was important to make sure everyone could understand the information. This experience has also helped me practice more inclusive communication. Looking ahead, I’m excited to work on the upcoming anti-bullying project with my partner, which will further support my learning goal of creating strategies that improve children’s safety and well-being

Practicum Environment and Social Determinants [WLOs: 1, 2] [CLOs: 2, 5]

Each week, you will be asked to speak on a different aspect of your practicum experience. In the discussions, you will address the various CEPH competencies you are working toward achieving. You will also highlight the data collection or data trends you are observing in your practicum. The goal for these discussions is to prepare you for your Final Practicum Report, which is due 10 days after you have presented and passed your Practicum Presentation Revision with your MPH faculty advisor and the MPH full-time faculty.

In this discussion, address the following:

  • Identify your practicum site. PUBLIC HEALTH 4 KIDZ
  • Explain the aim of your practicum (What are you doing primarily this week?).
  • Identify how many practicum hours you have completed thus far.  39.3 HOURS SO FAR
    • If over 30, 60, or at 90, have you submitted your evaluation to the practicum coordinator? YES
  • Describe the data you are collecting or data trends you are observing in your research and practicum work.
  • Explain how your practicum employs biological, environmental, socioeconomic, behavioral, and cultural determinants.
  • Describe the additional efforts you have taken toward achieving the four CEPH competencies listed in your signed Practicum Proposal Form.
