Organizational Improvisation

Think of an example of how you have had to improvise in your work.  How did it help to resolve an issue or problem?  Explain the benefits and discuss the organizational issues surrounding improvisation in your organization.

I have endeavored to explain improvisation in academic terms in the lecture.  However, the fact is that we improvise all the time.  Every conversation we participate in is improvised activity to a large extent, in that you do not know how you are going to respond until you have listened to what is being said to you.

So think in terms of acting spontaneously to rapidly solve an escalating or unintended issue.  Remember the combination of creativity, intuition, and bricolage, and apply those concepts or components to your particular example.

You will also be responding to the posts of other group members in the discussions, using the same analytical framework as you applied to your own improvised solution.
