The two most famous character couples associated with slavery on British stages and in print literature were Oroonoko and Imoinda and Inkle and Yarico. For over a hundred years, their stories moved authors, live audiences, and readers. What, if anything, do the two stories have in common, or are they quite different stories at heart? In your answer, you should consider theme (which is not a topic but an argument that literature makes directly or indirectly about topics in the text) and other selected formal aspects such as narration, character, setting, plot, and structure. Make sure you comment on the genre in which each story appears and why that matters to how the audience is primed to respond to the matierals, and make sure you consider the symbolic aspect of the stories conclusions.
