Overview and Objectives-3

In this module, you will work to narrow down and finalize your action research question or topic. You will also need to declare whether you will be completing Option 1 (traditional action research project), Option 2 (action research analysis), or Option 3 (action research from a data set).

Option 1: Write a discussion post explaining your thoughts on topics you are considering for your project. Consider any pros and cons that may arise within that topic.

Option 2: What is the topic you have chosen and why is it of interest to you?

Option 3: What is the research question you decided upon and how is it related to the data set you were provided?

Also, tell me three things you have learned from the videos or the text that are NEW TO YOU. What questions do you have about those things?

*** Educator feedback for the last reflection

I’ve provided feedback on the document you emailed me. Please read it carefully and take it into account before your next submission. As you move forward, make sure the topic you choose is one that you have control over. While there are many things that are concerning to us as educators, when designing and conducting action research, we must make sure we choosing something we can truly effect. Your concern about technology and socioeconomic issues are issues that lend themselves more to a traditional research paper where you find the information, write it up, and share it with others – not where you put an action into play and see what happens. There are parts of your paper that are very vague, in academic writing you need to write with specificity. Remember, your readers does not have the same knowledge you do – do not assume they know/understand what you are saying without being clear about it. You need to choose one topic to focus on. Each topic is its own research focus. While I appreciate you want to affect education systematically, those projects take much more time than we have in this course. Additionally, we have to start small before we can conduct massive research projects to effect broad change. You can certainly share what you learn with your campus and potentially affect change that way. It is ok to narrow your scope to meet the reality of this course.
