Question: response this post
“Only when leaders stop focusing on their personal needs and see themselves as serving others are they able to develop other leaders” (George, 2015, p.185).
Human desires are inevitable. No matter how selfless a person is, they will become selfish because of some things and become too concerned about their own interests and needs. Therefore, this sentence is very important to me. Because it takes a lot of determination to be like that.
As a leader, we first need to let go of our own needs and not carry out every task with our own needs. Only when you have the heart of serving others will you develop more leaders, and you will become an authentic leader yourself.
Not all people will develop a heart to serve others, it is a very change and sacrifice. But as Rajat Gupta former worldwide managing director, McKinsey mentioned in author George (2015) “Money is very seductive…However much you say that you will not fall into the trap of it, you do fall into the trap of it”. Interests are tempting. When a person is willing to sacrifice his own interests to serve others, it means that the leader can lead by example and cultivate more leaders who focus on the interests and needs of others.
It is easy to be a leader, but difficult to be a leader who is willing to serve others. My question is what it takes to be a servant leader.
