PART 1- Module 7- ASSIGNMENT- (VAL)- POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

Throughout this course, we have been reflecting on the meaning of being Catholic. Our class readings have attended to the homo religious, the religious sense, the existence of God, faith and reason, creation, sin and death, the Logos, the Incarnation, the Cross, the Church, the Holy Spirit, the Trinity, Sacraments, Morality, Prayer, and Saints. In reaching the saints in the final module, we have before us real human beings who embody Catholicism. Their lives stand as a testimony to the power of Christian faith. Their lives encompass and express everything this course attempted to convey.

For this final project, I want you to research one saint from the list below. You must use and cite at least two sources in your research on the saint’s life. To be clear, you will attempt to show how the saint embodies the central themes of this class. Therefore, you will also need to provide references to course material (hint: your Module 6 assignment should help you with this). Therefore, you will need at least two direct references to course material. This brings your bibliography to at least four sources.

Your final deliverable will be a Powerpoint presentation (pptx file) and a video of you presenting your slides.

You should have the following slides:

·       Title  (including the saint’s name and an image/painting of the saint)

·       Basic Bio (basic details — dates the saint lived, location, etc. and a second image/painting of the saint)

·       Conversion Event (What happened in the saint’s life that made him/her aware of God’s love?)

·       Relationship with God (As a result of becoming aware of God’s love (i.e., having a conversion), what changed in the saint’s relationship with God?)

·       Relationship with Others (What changed in the saint’s relationship with neighbors after encountering God’s love and living a personal relationship with God?)

·       How did the saint pray and celebrate the sacraments?

·       Other interesting facts/stories you found along the way (optional)

·       Why did you personally find the saint’s life intriguing?

·       Bibliography slide (displaying at least 4 sources)

Saint List (Please choose a saint from this list. If you wish to study a saint who is not included in this list, please contact your instructor.)

·       St. Augustine of Hippo

·       St. Francis of Assisi

·       St. Ignatius of Loyola

·       Edith Stein (St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross)

·       St. Margaret of Cortona

·       Blessed Bartolo Longo

·       Servant of God Dorothy Day

·       St. Paul of Tarsus/the Apostle
