In thinking about our reading about developmental stages please reflect upon previous popular culture (e.g., movies like Bye Bye Birdie, Rebel without a Cause, The Blackboard Jungle, Dragstrip Girl, Grease, Sixteen Candles, etc.), TV series (e.g., Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, Whats Happening, Gidget, Hannah Montana, and The Donna Reed Show), scholarly studies, or even feel free to conduct your own interviews with an elderly person to help gather more information. One hundred years ago, adolescence was not thought of as a specific stage; people went from being children to being young adults. How has the nature of adolescence changed over the past 100 years? How has this change in thinking impacted adolescents as well as society overall? How have the theories we are studying reflected this change? Please be sure to use examples to support your ideas.
