The article that i chose is about a device that you can get implanted, that wraps around your nerves and it eliminates pain without the use of drugs. This anew story I picked was personal to me because I am in recovery, I wish i would have known of this device a little sooner before pain medication. I can relate a lot to this article and i know a lot about addiction, different methods, and I have once tried a similar device once before in the past. This study was first introduced in in 2012 and 2018 by dr. Rogers, MacEwan and several other colleges demonstrated what was the world’s first electronic implant device. The device requires a simple surgery where the device is planted under the skin and wrapped around nerves and can be programmed and will dissolve on its own without surgery. Also John Rogers is who led the devices development, There was also a study first done with animals of the National Institute of Health. During that time all of the animals (rats)that were studied had to be approved by the institutional ethics committee of Ben Gurion. My news story could help someone today that is suffering with pain and does not want to take pain medication, or someone that is trying to steer away from taking pain medication but at the same time have relief from pain this device would be considerable.

the article I chose is one about schizophrenia. I picked this article because it holds personal meaning for me. the development I found is that there has now been found out that there is a second type of schizophrenia. This was found out by studying the brain images of a large group of people. In looking at these groups they have found that some people with schizophrenia had one kind of brain image and the others had another kind of image. This would have impacted what we know about this and how we study it because then we can see that maybe not everyone will respond to the same treatment. As far as we have come realizing that not all special needs ae the same this will help us to realize not all mental illness is the same and should be treated by treating the individual person and not the diagnosis.
DISCUSSION QUESTION
A hot-button issue around the world is climate change. Although most scientists agree that climate change exists and is the result of human activity, debates about this issue remain heated and polarized. In the arenas of politics, media, and public opinion, it seems that the “sides” of the issue are based more on contrasting belief systems and assumptions than on scientific evidence. Before participating in this discussion, make sure you read the module resources. You should include examples and other supporting evidence from the module resources in your posts.
Discussing challenges that face our world often means investigating opinions and ideas different from your own. Remember to remain thoughtful and respectful towards your peers and instructor in your discussion post and replies.
For your initial post, address the following:
- How might the way climate change is discussed in the media and by politicians influence climate change research and funding for that research?
- How can bias, beliefs, assumptions, and values influence what we know and how we approach contemporary global issues related to the natural sciences?
