For this assignment, you will need to type a two-three-page discussion of Picking Cotton by Jennifer Thompson-Cannino, Ronald Cotton, and Erin Torneo. Your response should follow MLA document and citation formatting. The organization for the Reaction assignment is as follows:
Begin with a topic sentence that introduces the title of the book, the authors, and an opinionated main point about a theme or element of the memoir that you wish to discuss.
The supporting sentences that follow will summarize the parts of the memoir that focus on that theme or element. Include your own analytical discussion of the significance of that element of the memoir while still maintaining third-person point of view. Two of your supporting sentences needs to be quotations from the reading with an in-text citation at the end of each quote, and two of your sentences needs to be your own paraphrase of words, phrases, or sentences from the reading with an in-text citation at the end of each paraphrased sentence. Here is an example of an in-text citation for this book: (Thompson-Cannino, et al. 62). You will need to use this format at the end of each sentence that includes a quote or a paraphrase from the book.
The last sentence of your reaction assignment must be a concluding sentence with no research to wrap up your disussion and bring the focus back to your main point.
You do not need to include a Works Cited entry or page for the Reaction assignment.
