Read the article from the New Urban Frontier (in this folder) and watch the following short video on “hostile architecture”. Using the other readings from this week on Urban Theory and specifically the idea of “Right to the City”, what are your thoughts on the ways cities try to restrict access to certain spaces and why. Who are these restrictions for and who do they hurt? Thinking specifically about homeless populations, do you think cities should create public spaces that are more accessible/amenable to them? Why or why not? And what are some possible solutions to ongoing issues of homelessness? In writing this response, make sure that you are using ideas and examples from all of the readings and the video as you explore your ideas.
