Reading Disabilities: Dyslexia

Students will create a resource that provides information about dyslexia. The resource will include information on dyslexia, the evaluation process, and evidence-based interventions. It will also include information about the myths and misunderstandings about dyslexia. (APA format/ citation)

1. Read/ View the information on dyslexia and the associated disorders in Module 3 listed below.

2. Students will create a resource that provides information about these topics. Include headings and subheadings to ensure you include all of these areas:

  • The definition of dyslexia
  • The characteristics of a student with dyslexia- at different grade levels/ages
  • The referral and evaluation process
  • Evidence-based interventions
  • The myths and misconceptions about dyslexia
  • The Teacher Education Agency’s (TEA) requirements for working with students with dyslexia
  • Reflection on your understanding, experience, and questions about dyslexia
  • Links to resources for dyslexia that you can use and/or share with parents.

   3.   Review the written work expectations on the syllabus. Cite your sources; do not copy directly from other resources. YOU MUST USE THE RESOURCES PROVIDED IN THE MODULE BEFORE USING INFORMATION FROM OTHER SOURCES. 

   4. You can create a chart or use an essay format. You can add graphics, hyperlinks to videos, and other features, but you must submit your assignment in Microsoft Word doc. or docx. formats. 

5. Complete and include your responses to the reflection questions below at the end of the assignment.
