Question:

Can you identify concretely what policies and practices you would use to promote diversity and inclusion?

Recently, Governor DeSantis of Florida worked to remove African American studies from the school’s curriculum. Now, this removal by extension denotes that the history of African Americans and the current status of this population as a people is not worth acknowledging or knowing. You are now being asked as a Social Worker to challenge this atrocious behavior and advocate for inclusion. Please share with us how you would do so? Which allies would you engage to aid in this endeavor? How would you demonstrate the implications the removal of African American studies would have on African Americans and the US population on a whole? Remember, it is all tied to institutional racism.
