Select one type of criminal offender (violent offenders, drug offenders, sex offenders, property offenders, et cetera). Write a paper in which you do the following:
Identify the type of criminal offender you selected.
Provide and analyze some data on the recidivism and crime rates for these types of offenders.
Evaluate, based on what you have learned throughout this course, what, if anything, can be done in the way of treatment or rehabilitation to help reduce recidivism rates for these types of offenders.
Examine the components of effective and ineffective programs for these types of offenders.
Be specific and provide detailed information, citing current peer-reviewed research and literature to support your position.
Analyze the forces that might affect the ability of a jurisdiction to provide rehabilitation or treatment to these offenders, rather than focusing on punishment and retribution.
