Topic 1 DQ 1

Identify two GCU Library scholarly databases that will help you find the best research articles to support your capstone project change proposal. Discuss why these two databases are better than Google Scholar or a general Internet search.

Grand Canyon University Library is the solid foundational support for both staff and students in excelling their academic journey. The two GCU library scholarly databases that I have been using and will continue to use during my capstone project change proposal are CINAHL (Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied and Health Sciences) and Complete and Academic Search Complete. They’re both driven by EBSCO (Elton B. Stephens Company), a leading provider of academic databases, e-journals, magazine subscriptions, e-books, and discovery services to libraries of all types. According to EBSCO (2021), this is the go-to resource for nursing and allied health professionals looking for information. Users will get full-text access to top papers, evidence-based treatment sheets, fast tutorials, and more with CINAHL Complete.

These two databases are better than Google Scholar or a general internet search because it offers reliable resources, current and accurate. According to Grand Canyon University (2021), In the GCU library, we can look for journal articles, eBooks and physical books, dissertations, streaming video, and music. RefWorks or EndNote Web are bibliographic management software tools that can help to organize and manage citations. To find the right article, I can narrow down my search by selecting an option like peer-reviewed, full text, citation format, and required publication date range, which all saves my time. The library’s website has tutorials for the general library, databases, and technical support. In GCU library, we even have an opportunity to sign up for webinars where you will be given a guided tour of the library’s resources and how to use them.

Re: Topic 1 DQ 1

The database is collecting data or information mainlyconcerned with quick sorting and retrieval by a computer. As a student with Grand Canyon University and writing an academic paper weekly, the two primary databases that will help me find the best research articles to support thecapstone project change proposal are ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health Sources and Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health (CINAHL Complete). ProQuest offers various over 860 titles of full-text peer-review literature and a more significant number of full dissertations in nursing, allied health, and complementary medicine. Furthermore,evidenced-based access to nursing materials and videos with the opportunity for translation in many languages for better research, better learning, and better insight is provided(ProQuest, n.d). While CINAHL provides access to the best and most current nursing and allied health literature with fast and easy full-text journals, evidence-based care sheets, quick lessons and more (CINAHL Complete, n.d)

These two databases are better than Google Scholar or a general internet search because it offers reliable resources, current and accurate EBP proposal. The information they contain is more reliable, credible facts as books are written by experts in a professional field write credibly. Data is reviewed, evaluated for accuracy, credibility, and updated regularly by subject experts and publishers. However, it is not so with the internet resources this is unmonitored. The authenticity of the information is not usually known] sites are not secured with advert popping up, sites lack control, and are not evaluated. Therefore, it is paramount to say that the database mentioned above was had been the above mentioned most helpful in my assignment in GCU.
