Research Design And Ethics

SPSS LAB 2

In this folder, you will find a first draft of an Informed Consent that was developed for a local agency years ago.  The agency was applying for a federal grant and needed to conduct a needs assessment of youth in Gulfton-area (predominately Spanish-speaking community) middle and high schools in Houston, Texas.  This was the first-draft of the Informed Consent, which obviously, needed a lot of revisions.

Applying what you have learned about ethics in research, provide a critique of this Informed Consent form.  What are its weaknesses?  Where does it fall short ethically?  How would you change this form so that it is more aligned with ethical guidelines for research with human subjects?  Provide specific examples in your answer.
