Before you start writing your essay, you are going to complete an outline – this will help you to get your ideas in order before starting to write. There are two guides for the outline, and these can be found on pages 6 and 7 of the research project packet. The biggest difference between the two versions is the way it tackles opposing arguments, so look closely at both before choosing your structure.
The goal of creating an outline it to sort through your information and organize your ideas. Your outline must follow one of the required formats and include all required elements — especially a clear, concise thesis statement that presents your stance and reasons.
The outline does not need to be SUPER detailed, but the more detail you add, the easier it will make writing your essay.
To create your outline, all you need to do is use the structure from your chosen outline and type it out. The outline will be a quiz grade, so make sure you complete all pieces and get it turned in on time!
